Signal Corps Power Unit PE210
Serial No. 1730

This unit is in running order, albeit missing the cowling and air filter. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with the 'electric governor' as the engine will not maintain the speed required for charging. The unit does charge if the throttle is held open by hand, but this is the only way the engine speed can be maintained. I would be pleased to hear from anyone with any experience of these units and would also like to find the missing parts. I managed to find a manual (dated May 1944) for a PE214B which seems very similar, the main difference being the unit in the manual does not have the control box, voltage regulator or meters.

The unit has a batter start feature which works well. The 12V charging battery will start the engine by holding the start/charge button to the start position. For its age, this appears to be quite an advanced little unit and I hope to be able to find the missing parts to get it working again properly.
