STYLE 1
| Introduced in 1910, little is known about the actual production run of these engines. It is likely production ceased around 1914 with the introduction of the Style 2 engines. An unusual design employing Wolseley's own carburettor with U-tube warm air pipe which pre-heats the air entering the engine by passing over the exhaust manifold. Governing is by a horizontally mounted 'hit & miss' arrangement acting on the inlet valve. The Style 1 was available in two sizes, 3.5 HP at 600 RPM and 5 HP at 450 RPM. Ignition equipment was usually by Bosch 22 high tension magneto. The restored engine was seen at an Australian rally several years ago. |
